The Vietnamese Buddhist Monk, Thich Nhat Hanh, believes being present is the only moment we have. In other words, if you are not present, then you have missed your appointment with life! I love his belief that when we are drinking tea, washing dishes, exercising, playing with our children, etc, that we should be fully present in that moment/activity.
If you are like me, you have a long list of things you need to get done and often are thinking are them while doing a few other things. I missed many moments in life because I was too busy keeping up with my mind. Over the past few years, I have learned to be present. It is giving me so much joy and appreciation. Being present takes practice, and it’s a necessary life lesson.
The only moment we have is this present moment. Don’t miss your appointment with life!
